Bringing Canadian Small Businesses Online, Nationwide

Company: A major national organization in Canada

The Challenge

Small and independent Canadian retailers had no single, trusted place to reach customers across the country. For shoppers, discovering and buying from local businesses meant hopping between dozens of separate sites, with no consistent experience and no dependable nationwide shipping.

Great local products were hard to find, and harder to buy with confidence.

The Approach

We designed a national online marketplace to bring Canadian small businesses and shoppers together in one place, Canada first. We shaped the full experience: browsing and discovery across categories, curated collections, rich product pages, and a seamless checkout, so shoppers could find and support local retailers with confidence, and businesses could reach the whole country.

Along the way, we ran extensive in-person stakeholder workshops, to align on the approach, study what competitors were doing, and chart the path to launch.

The Impact

We launched a national marketplace where Canadian small businesses could reach customers across the country, and shoppers could discover and support local retailers in one trusted place, with reliable nationwide shipping.
